What this site collects, who else sees it, and how to tell us to stop. It is a short list — we are a guide, not a data business.

The short version
You can read every page of this site without telling us anything. We collect an email address only if you hand one over, and we measure which listings people click through to. Nothing is sold, and there is no account to create.
Who we are
cabinsandcamping.com is run by James Ronan. For anything on this page — a question, a correction, or a request to delete something — write to hello@cabinsandcamping.com and a human will answer.
What we collect
How the site is used. Google Analytics, and only if you agree to it. We look at which pages are read and which listings get clicked through to the owner’s website — that last one is the number that decides whether this site can pay for itself. It is reported to us in aggregate. We do not try to work out who you are, and we could not if we wanted to.
Your email address, if you give it. The newsletter is double opt-in: you type an address, we send one email, and nothing else happens unless you click the link in it. Every issue carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately.
Suggestions. The suggest a place form asks about a place — its name, where it is, its website, and why you rate it. It does not ask who you are. Submissions go to an inbox and a person reads them.
Server logs. Our host, Vercel, keeps short-lived request logs including IP addresses. That is ordinary infrastructure housekeeping — spotting errors and abuse — and we do not mine it.
Cookies and your choice
Nothing that needs consent runs until you have answered the banner. Until then analytics and advertising are switched off rather than merely unrecorded.
Changed your mind? Clear this site’s cookies and site data in your browser settings and the banner will ask again from scratch. Declining costs you nothing — every page works identically either way.
Advertising
The site carries two display advert slots, served by Google AdSense. Something has to pay for the hosting, and adverts are the version of that which cannot influence what we recommend — see How we choose.
If you consent, Google may use cookies to show adverts based on your visits here and to other sites. If you decline, you still see adverts, but they are chosen without cookies and without any profile of you. You can review and change Google’s own settings at My Ad Center, or opt out of personalised advertising across many networks at Your Online Choices.
No advertiser is shown the list before it is published, and nobody can buy a place on it.
Who else sees any of this
Only the companies that run the plumbing, each doing one job: Vercel hosts the site, Google Analytics measures it, Buttondown sends the newsletter, and Formspree relays the suggestion form, and Google AdSense serves the adverts. We do not sell data, and we do not share it with the places we list.
Links to other websites
Every listing links out to the owner’s own site, and those links carry a tag telling the owner the visit came from us — that is how we can show a cabin owner they are worth working with. Once you land on their site you are on their terms and their privacy policy, not ours.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and withdraw consent at any time. In practice that usually means one email address, and hello@cabinsandcamping.com is the address to write to. We will not make you jump through hoops.
If you think we have handled something badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you told us first so we can fix it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top changes and the banner asks again.
