Places to stay within 125 miles of Oslo

Measured in a straight line from the centre of Oslo. That is a distance, not a journey. We know where each of these places is to within a few metres and we know nothing whatever about the roads, so this page will not tell you how long anything takes — and neither will any page that dresses a straight line up as “two hours away”.

Telemark one way and Värmland the other, which is how a page about Oslo ends up with Swedish campsites on it. Nothing here is close in: the near end sits out in the forest belt either side of the border, where the difference between the two countries is a sign and a change of language.

6 places, from PAN Treetop Cabins at about 70 miles out to Telemark Camping & Motel at about 100 miles.

How this page is worked out

We take the coordinates on each published listing, measure the great-circle distance from a single point in Oslo to each of them, keep everything inside 125 miles and sort nearest first. Distances are rounded to the nearest five miles, because a city centre is a convention rather than a coordinate and the second decimal place would be pretending otherwise.

2 of these sit outside Norway Värmland, in Sweden. A straight line goes over borders and open water without mentioning either, so the ordering above is telling you which of these is nearest and nothing at all about which is easiest. What it takes to actually get to one is on the listing’s own page, where we have researched it.

84 of the 85 published listings carry coordinates. The one that does not cannot appear here at all — a place with no pin has no distance, and estimating one from its county would be an invention.

From another city

Only cities with three or more places inside 125 miles get a page — the same floor the collections keep. Or ignore geography and filter all 85 places instead.
