Why we love it

Clifden is the capital of Connemara in the way that a town of fifteen hundred people can be, and this site is out on the Claddaghduff road with the shore in front of it. Tents, caravans and motorhomes, plus tipis to rent for anyone travelling without canvas.

The Sky Road loop starts in Clifden and is worth the hour it takes.

Best for: a first or last night in Connemara

Worth knowing

  • Entry is by pre-booking only, and turning up without one costs €3.
  • Showers are €1 for three minutes, and the Wi-Fi reaches reception and no further.
  • Arrivals are between 2pm and 7pm; earlier or later costs €5 or €10.

From Galway, the N59 to Clifden, then 3.5 km along the Westport road, then 6.2 km on the Claddaghduff road (L1102); reception is 450 m down the park's own road.

Who runs it

Kris and Tatjana

The park grew out of a Connemara farm started in the early 1960s by Kris's parents, Chris and Kathleen. The farm went organic in 1990 and the family run both together.
