Värmland
Ninety-five oversized natural pitches among the forests and lakes of Värmland.
Why we love it
Lagom is the Swedish idea of exactly enough — not too little, not too much — and it is a fair name for a site that gives you a very large pitch and then leaves you alone. Ninety-five of them, with and without electricity, spread through forest in the middle of Värmland.
Värmland is lake country on the Norwegian border, and the allemansrätten — the right of public access — means the canoe routes and berry picking start at the edge of the site.
Best for: a fortnight of lakes, canoes and nobody in particular
Worth knowing
- The showers run on tokens bought at reception. The owners' own words for it are 'not popular, but sustainable'.
- You can only reserve a numbered pitch for a stay of twelve nights or more. Anything shorter and you choose a spot when you arrive.
- The Lagom café and restaurant open in high season only, and the breakfast service stops in July and August — hot sandwiches ordered the night before instead.

- The village supermarket · 0.3 miles — 500 metres from the campsite and open seven days a week.
Beaches
- Lillsjön — The swimming lake at the foot of the campsite, with a jetty; the first 10 metres are shallow enough for small children.
- Tröttvik — A sandy beach on the neighbouring Lake Rottnen, which the campsite's motor boat runs out to.
Who runs it
Harold and Mariska
Harold and Mariska moved from Nijeveen in the Netherlands in August 2019 with their youngest children, Wisse and Rune, and took over the campsite that September.
