Dingle, County Kerry, Munster
Pitches at the western end of the Dingle Peninsula, ten minutes from the town and a short walk from the beach.
The site calls itself Europe's most westerly campsite, and on the Dingle Peninsula that claim is at least arguable. What is not in dispute is the position: the Atlantic in front, Dingle town ten minutes behind, and a beach within walking distance.
Practical rather than pretty — showers, laundry, a campers' kitchen, a playground. That is the right set of things for a peninsula where the weather makes its own plans and you may want to cook indoors.
Best for: touring the Slea Head Drive with a tent in the boot
Family run since the 1980s, and built by TP himself, in the site's own account of itself.
