An old mill and its stream five minutes from Dunfanaghy, with pitches, bell tents, railway carriages and a converted trawler.
Why we love it
Corcreggan has been quietly collecting recommendations from Lonely Planet and the Rough Guides for years, and it is easy to see why: an old country mill with a stream running through it, an organic garden, lake and sea views, and a run of sleeping options that gets steadily stranger the further you walk. Pitches and motorhome bays, then bell tents, then two railway carriages, then a converted fishing trawler.
Tent pitches start at €17.50. It is the cheapest thing on this list by a distance and one of the most characterful, which is not a combination that comes up often.
Best for: anyone touring the north Donegal coast who wants somewhere to stay put for three nights
Worth knowing
- The campsite runs alongside the main N56 road, and the site says there may be some road noise.
- There is no Wi-Fi in the motorhome park or campsite, and it only sometimes reaches the bell tents and railway carriage.
- Dunfanaghy's water supply comes under strain in peak season; guests are asked to shower early and to avoid 8–10am and 5–8pm.

On the N56 between Dunfanaghy and Falcarragh, about two miles west of Dunfanaghy. Coaches from Dublin, Derry, Letterkenny and Galway will drop passengers at the gate on request. Donegal Airport is a forty-minute drive.
