Goleen Harbour

Goleen, County Cork, Munster

EcoCabins and geodesic domes on a thirty-eight-acre coastal farm at the far end of the Mizen Peninsula.

Why we love it

The Mizen is the last peninsula in Ireland, and Goleen Harbour sits on thirty-eight acres of it, a short walk from the village. Some of the cabins look straight out at the Fastnet Rock — the lighthouse eleven miles offshore that emigrants called the Teardrop of Ireland because it was the last thing they saw.

The EcoCabins were designed by Matt, who founded the place, and built on ground-screw foundations rather than concrete, so the ground underneath can be given back. Domes and bell tents as well, and pitches for anyone bringing their own canvas.

Best for: the end-of-the-road feeling, without having to rough it
