Doolin, County Clare, Munster
Family-run and a hundred metres from Doolin Pier, between the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren.
Position is the entire argument. Nagle's is a hundred metres from Doolin Pier, which means the Aran Islands ferry is a walk rather than a drive, the Cliffs of Moher path starts up the coast, and the Burren begins behind you. Doolin's pubs — the reason a lot of people come to Clare at all — are close enough to walk back from.
Family-run, with pitches, pods and mobile homes. It is a working campsite rather than a designed one, and it does not pretend otherwise.
Best for: using as a base, not as the destination
Bus Éireann route 350 stops directly outside the campsite. By car from Ennis it is the N85 through Inagh, Ennistymon and Kilshanny; the coast road from Galway is scenic but narrow in places, and the site advises caravans and motorhomes to go via Ennis.
