Bella Sardinia

Oristano, Sardinia

Pitches under a pine forest on Sardinia's west coast, where the wind makes the beaches.

Why we love it

The west coast is Sardinia's windward side, which keeps the summer bearable and has made the Sinis peninsula a surfing and windsurfing coast. Bella Sardinia sits in mature pine forest — genuinely shaded even in August, which is the difference between camping and enduring.

Oristano and the Roman site at Tharros are close, and so is Is Arutas, the beach made of quartz grains rather than sand.

Best for: wind, water sports and shade

Worth knowing

  • From mid-June to mid-September there is an organised entertainment service across the site — mini-club, sports activities and evening entertainment.
  • Rented accommodation is not available until 5pm, must be vacated by 10am, and carries a compulsory final cleaning charge.
  • The deposit taken on arrival is €100 and cash only; bed linen and towels are hired at €9 a person a change.
