Glendalough Glamping

Laragh, County Wicklow, Leinster

Adults-only pods on a twenty-one-acre hillside farm above the Glendalough valley.

Why we love it

Glendalough is the sixth-century monastic site at the head of a glacial valley, and it gets busy — which is the argument for sleeping there rather than driving in for the afternoon. The pods sit on a twenty-one-acre hillside farm at Laragh, heated and insulated, with a shared kitchen, dining area and a terrace looking at the mountains.

Adults only, and about an hour from Dublin.

Best for: having the valley to yourself at eight in the morning

Worth knowing

  • The pods have beds, heat and light but no plumbing: bathrooms and showers are shared, a short walk away in the Lodge.
  • Strictly adults only, and no pets at all.
  • The kitchen and dining area opens 7am–9pm and is for cooking and eating, not for sitting around in.
